It is known for its distinctive multicolored bands or rings on the surface of the mushroom, which resemble the tail feathers of a turkey.

Here's a recipe for a simple Turkey Tail soup that you can easily make at home:

Ingredients:

* 1 lb. Turkey Tail mushroom
* 8 cups water
* 1 large onion, chopped
* 4 cloves garlic, minced
* 2 tbsp olive oil
* 2 tbsp soy sauce
* 1 tsp salt
* 1 tsp black pepper
* 1 tsp dried thyme
* 1 bay leaf

Instructions:

1. Clean the Turkey Tail mushrooms thoroughly by brushing off any dirt or debris. Slice them thinly and set them aside. (If using Turkey Tail powder add Turkey Tail powder instead of Step 3)
2. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic and sauté until they become translucent.
3. Add the sliced Turkey Tail mushrooms to the pot and stir well.
4. Add the water, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and bay leaf to the pot. Stir well to combine.
5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 30-40 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and the flavors have melded together.
6. Remove the bay leaf from the pot and discard it.
7. Using an immersion blender or a regular blender, blend the soup until it becomes smooth and creamy.
8. Serve the Turkey Tail soup hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs or croutons, if desired.
